Jarred Kelenic is again within the main leagues.

The previous Mets prospect, who was dealt to the Mariners in a 2018 commerce that introduced again Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz, has struggled within the majors so far, hitting .140 over 30 video games earlier than getting despatched down this season. In his return on Sunday, Kelenic struck out in his first at-bat, pinch hitting for Jack Larsen.

Seattle known as up each Kelenic and Larsen on Sunday as Julio Rodriguez and Dylan Moore had been positioned on the IL. The Rodriguez harm particularly hurts, because the rookie leads the Mariners in residence runs and is second on the group in OPS.

The deal, which initially seemed to have been gained by the Mariners as Diaz struggled with the Mets and Cano’s contract was notoriously unhealthy, has now swung the opposite way.

Kelenic, 23, has seen his inventory plummet from a high prospect as he’s struggled to catch on within the majors. The Mets reduce Cano earlier this 12 months, however Diaz is within the midst of an All-Star season, and has a career-best 1.51 ERA.

Maybe Kelenic will handle to show issues round in some unspecified time in the future. However until that occurs, it appears the Mets have the higher hand.
