A cargo of terminals from Elon Musk’s satellite tv for pc web service Starlink have arrived in Ukraine, in keeping with a prime Ukrainian official.
Ukrianian vice prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov shared a picture of a truckload of Starlink terminals late Monday, writing, “Starlink — right here. Thanks, @elonmusk.”
“You might be most welcome,” the SpaceX and Tesla CEO replied.
Starlink terminals obtain web from SpaceX’s 2,000 satellites, permitting customers to get on-line even when their service has been disconnected.
Fedorov first requested Musk expand the service to Ukraine by Twitter on Saturday because the Russian military laid siege to the country.
“@elonmusk, whilst you attempt to colonize Mars — Russia attempt to occupy Ukraine!” Fedorov wrote on Saturday. “Whereas your rockets efficiently land from house — Russian rockets assault Ukrainian civil individuals! We ask you to supply Ukraine with Starlink stations and to deal with sane Russians to face.”
Musk replied hours later that Starlink service was now lively in Ukraine and mentioned he would ship extra terminals. On Monday, he appeared to have delivered on that promise.
It was unclear whether or not Ukrainians needed to pay for the terminals or for Starlink service. SpaceX presently expenses $500 for a terminal and $100 a month for traditional web service.
The corporate is including a premium service that prices $500 monthly with a $2,500 terminal.
SpaceX didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
