NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Mayor Eric Adams blasted the media on Tuesday, overshadowing his personal historic announcement on summer time jobs for youth.

As CBS2’s Marcia Kramer reported, the mayor was sad with some press accounts of his meeting with Albany lawmakers on bail reform.

In a shocking show of mayoral discontent, Adams misplaced his composure. Kramer, who was in Albany with Adams on Monday, stated the mayor appeared most upset with a small headline and a narrative in one of many metropolis’s tabloids.

The mayor took to his bully pulpit, buying and selling swagger for indignation over press protection of his try to get state lawmakers to alter the bail reform legal guidelines.

“You guys kill me. What a part of Albany have been you overlaying? ‘Eric Will get Beats Up In Albany,’” Adams stated.

The mayor additionally implied the protection of his administration was partially based mostly on the dearth of media variety.

“That’s why I’m lined the way in which I’m lined and I’m not comfy with it,” Adams stated. “So I say to all of your homeowners of your papers, your editorials, diversify your newsroom so I can look out and see those that appear like me.”

The mayor’s remarks overshadowed an essential announcement — the growth of the summer time youth jobs program from 75,000 to 100,000 spots so youngsters tempted to affix gangs or flip to crime would have job alternatives as an alternative.
