President Biden gave out hugs and phrases of encouragement Friday as he toured wildfire damage in Colorado together with his spouse, first girl Jill Biden.

The just lately extinguished blaze between Denver and Boulder destroyed about 1,100 buildings, together with tons of of properties. Two individuals were missing and feared lifeless.

The president met with three households affected by the inferno earlier than delivering remarks. One resident apologized to the primary couple for sporting shorts, saying the remainder of his garments had burned.

“The entire nation is considering you,” Biden stated. “You haven’t any thought how many individuals’s prayers you’re in, after I went to Mass, how many individuals have been praying for you.”

The president blamed the extent of the devastation on local weather change brought on by way of fossil fuels.

“We will’t ignore the truth that these fires are being supercharged. They’re being supercharged by a change within the climate,” Biden stated.

He added: “We’re gonna have windmills you’re gonna see which have 100-yard wingspans, every propeller on that on that windmill, 100 yards lengthy.”
