Billionaire tech mogul and Paypal co-founder Peter Thiel has reportedly employed embattled former Austrian chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who abruptly stepped down from workplace amid allegations of corruption, to assist run his funding fund.
Kurz, 35, will function a world strategist for California-based Thiel Capital starting within the first quarter of 2022. The previous chancellor confirmed his profession transfer to Austrian media outlets.
Kurz, who was as soon as Europe’s youngest elected chief at age 31, resigned as Austria’s chancellor in October after prosecutors introduced he was underneath investigation for allegations of corruption.
Austrian authorities are investigating claims that Kurz and his political allies used public cash to publish doctored polls in a bid to retain energy. Kurz has denied wrongdoing.
Although he initially retained a task because the conservative Austrian Individuals’s Celebration’s parliamentary chief, Kurz left politics solely earlier this month, citing a need to spend time together with his household.
He plans to commute between Europe and Thiel Capital’s US headquarters, Reuters reported, citing Austrian information outlet Heute. His pay is reportedly far greater than the €300,000 ($340,000) he earned as chancellor.
Thiel, 54, co-founded monetary tech agency PayPal in 1998 and was an early investor in Fb. His private web price is estimated to be $3.3 billion, in keeping with Forbes.
Thiel can also be a prominent political donor identified for his conservative views. He supported former President Donald Trump’s bid for the White Home in 2016 and remained a vocal backer throughout his time period in workplace.
